Which halloween costume should I pick?

So it's the time of the year where Halloween is beckoning again. Ah, Halloween Halloween. One of my friends once said "Halloween is a big excuse for girls to ho it up and get away with it, without coming off as 1) a hooker or 2) a stripper." And you know, I couldn't agree more! I remember a few years back, when I went to Madison for Halloween, it was a riot. The streets were decked with girls in omg-so-slutty costumes. It was a feast for the guys. So well anyways, I was browsing through the websites for costumes, and I can't decide between a few. Maybe someone can give some advice?

Okay, I know the two above are identical, but they're different in color! Plus, the blue one comes with a staff.

Ya, so that's it. Hopefully I'll come to a decision before they get sold out. :(

Random rantings.

I'm dying of boredom. In class now, and the lecturer is talking about the link between hypertension and renal function. It's an hour-long lecture, and we're about 20 min into it, but man, the minutes are crawling by. CRAAAWWWLIING. It's really fascinating how we perceive time. Guess that brings us to the theory of the relativity of time. For example, a couple goes to the mall. The girl shops for a couple of hours, with the guy on her arm. They're technically in the same time zone together, and even in the same location. The difference is that the girl prolly thinks the hours passed by in no time at all, whereas the guy prolly thinks that time is going so slow he wants to shoot himself in the head. The opposite stands true when this couple goes to a football game. And so on. Man, I must be really bored to blabber about stuff like that. It's amazing how I can sit through a lecture like this, with the environment set up so that we can only focus on the speaker, and yet my mind refuses to absorb information. A 9 am class is just too brutal. I remember missing the 830am org0-chem classes in Umich. In fact, i couldn't get up for class 70% of the time that 1) I had no choice but to self-study 2)my friend has to come to my dorm room to yank me out of bed. In my defense though, the professor teaching the class is a major airhead that it's not worth my getting up at all. The average on that class was a 56 /100, and most of the people who fail are the ones diligently attending class and listening to her crap. My friend and I got the highest grades for that class, and I like to think I saved him from the rubbish the lecturer was feeding us. Heh. So going to class doesn't pay all the time! Hoho. Unless, of course, they take attendance. Okay, there is utterly no point in this post at all, other than the fact that it brought me 15 min further into the lecture. Yippee! I guess I should stop ranting on now. Ha.

Forgiveness

Have you ever been so mad/frustrated/angry at someone and never had the chance to convey this to the person in question for certain reasons, which in turn makes you even angrier? I've had one such experience in the past. My close friend just suddenly dropped off the face of the earth, for his own reasons. But I didn't know that. I remember being so worried for a few weeks, only to hear that he was just avoiding me for his own reasons. In a split second, all the concern erupted into anger. Yet, I could never tell him how I think of him, simply because I can't find him. I could only mellow my anger by bitching and ranting to my friends and family, and even so, that did little to contain my frustration, because the point is "He doesn't f***ing know how mad I am, and how little I think of him!" Thank god I have a very flaky memory when it comes to things like this. After a year or two, I start to forget, bit by bit, until the memory seems to never exist at all. It's been a few years now, and if he never contacted me again, I wouldn't have remembered. But of course he had to contact me, didn't he? He sent me an email recently, asking for my forgiveness. And that it was very immature of him, and he was young and foolish then. All of a sudden, the anger came back. Every molecule of me wished that he never contacted me again! It seems to me a selfish act, cuz he's doing this for his own sake, to make him feel okay with himself. The first thought I had was "there's no way I'm going to forgive this scumbag", but then, the goodness in me wanted me to be more forgiving, call it accumulating good karma. So now I'm torn. But as pissed as before! Sigh, what should I do... :(

Working/partying hard!

I know it's been a long time since I posted anything, but I've been slogging away at my lab! And also I've been drinking consecutively from Thursday till Sunday last weekend (Dear God, please don't let me develop a beer belly. Amen.) Went to PBBG with my roomie on Thursday. Went for 1/2 off soju and PBBG with my classmates on Friday (I don't know what it is about soju, every time after soju, I feel like going to PBBG). One of my friends went home with a stranger (*scandalous*) and I got a rose from a random stranger! It's still sitting pretty in the vase on my table. Saturday I went over to Noel's and Meredith's new pad to chill with Tom and Eveline and peeps. All thanks to the wedding gift we bought them (a bartending set), we polished off a bottle of vodka and 1/2 bottle of rum. I was the official bartender, and nothing can explain the satisfaction of making my dear patrons drunk. I did a lot of vodka green tea with lemon, and vodka with Perrier and a lemon twist. None of them had drank either of these before, and at the end of the night, everyone was declaring one of them as their new favorite drink (though I don't know how much you can trust drunk people, but hey, at least they like it enough to get drunk on it right?).
Anyway the whole fiesto of drinking was because I got my stipend allowance! No more scrimping and saving! No more eating home cooked food that sucks ass! No more putting off car washes till I can't see the road! Yay! And also, I get to upgrade my account to a premier banking account, and I get a complimentary platinum card! I don't have to pay the 2 bucks fee if I draw from other ATMs! Weeee! I went shopping both Saturday and Sunday, and I'm proud of myself. I just bought a new burberry hat, and bebe heels, and a whole assortment of makeup from MAC. I think I'm going to put off the Tiffany bangle (which will go so well with my ring) until a more deserving moment. I had a hair cut too, though you can't see it in the pictures, cuz I was so pleased with my hat, I wore it so much that I barely see my hair too. Ha. I have straight bangs too, and some people said I look like a doll more. I think it makes my face look fat though. Will post pictures if I get some. :)
My coveted bangle...
And as expected, Jenn went and got the same hat I got. I must say it's a reflection of my good taste. To date, we have the same hat, same ring, same Chanel shades, same tops and skirts from A&F, same Dior bracelets, same Mac foundation, same A&F and lilac perfume, same ipod nanos, same uGg boots and she's thinking of getting my mesh ring as well. Well, I'm going to get her car one day. Ha. At Meredith's place. Told ya I wear the hat everyday now. Lol.

So on a sidenote, I got so tickled by my friend Carol. She and I were roommates in Michigan, and she must be one of the most ditzy friends I have (I got her permission to say this) She has her adorable moments. I remember in college, I was talking about a bruise in my toenail, and how it will grow out after a few months, and she was like "doesn't the toenail grow from the white area onwards? You mean the pink part grows too?" -__- I remember laughing at her for a while after that, and it stuck in my memory. So yday she was talking to me on gchat, and she was asking me if she'll get liver damage if she took 8 panadols. I asked her WTH did she take 8, and she said she couldn't sleep, and wanted to take some drowsy-inducing pills. After a pause, I informed her that panadols are not soporific. And she was like "Oh." And ya, she said she didn't know. I told her even if she took 8 panadols, the chances of her getting her stomach pumped is higher than liver damage. And yep, so I asked her if I could post this, and she was like "Sure! I'm mature and intelligent now!" (she asked me to quote this.) Hahahaha, I love that girl to death. She cracks me up in ways no one can. :)

Btw, Dave, this post's for you. I'm writing! :P

The TRUE meaning of happiness

I went jogging tonight around my housing estate. Before I started out, I was in a decently bad mood, for I have once again left my mini in the lab. I've never gone jogging with music, and I wasn't very obliging to do so. Nevertheless, I forced myself to tumble out the door and start picking up my steps briskly. I have to say, it wasn't bad. Initially, I could only hear my ragged breaths (yes, people) and heavy steps, but after a while, my ears started to pick up other sounds. The pattering of the water from the sprayers against the lamp poles, the distant rumbling of the occasional car, the rustling of the grass with the wind. It was at that moment that I pondered upon the significance of happiness (I mean, I didn't exactly had anything else better to do at that moment, do I?). What is happiness? And how long can it last? I tried to think of occasions when I've been happy. Chatting and kidding around with my kid sister before we go to bed, holding his hand, my parents' proud expressions at my award ceremony, my mum buying my favorite food to lure me to wake up, my sisters' smiles. Then I realized, hey actually I've had a lot of happy times. Yet, I always let the sad and dire times get to me. In a way, that's not doing much justice to my happy times, considering they should have equal weight. What is the worth of a moment of happiness? Definitely more so than a moment of sadness. Yet, people always let the sadness cloud over, and forget the moments of happiness like they never existed. So, from now onwards, in times of unhappiness, I'm going to give the past moments of happiness the attention they rightfully deserve. I'm going to remember them, and cherish them, because they were real. And they existed for a reason.

Singapore

We have always argued about the topic of Singapore ever since we got together. Now that we're no longer together, the topic continues to flourish like flowers in spring. I want to go back to Singapore after my degree. Every molecule of me wants to. In fact, there are days like this when I will have sudden thoughts of just dropping all I have right now, and buying myself a one-way ticket back to Singapore. It's taking all my strength to be here, without my family, to live on my own.

I know I sound like a weakling, and I don't come across as the tough cookie I want to portray myself as, but I really do miss my family. People always complain and moan about how lonely they feel after they break up, but you know, you will never be alone if your family is with you. I never used to take long to get over a breakup, perhaps because I was younger and more frivolous, but more likely, it was because my sister and mum will always be there to stop the tears, to listen to me complain, to buy me my favorite foods and cheer me up. Here, I have nothing.

Isn't it funny how relationships always work out the same way after a breakup? Either party will entertain thoughts of getting back together, but always at different times. If there really is a Cupid, I want to stab him really hard.

I guess it's inevitable that differing opinions occur in a relationship. After all, the parties involved come from different backgrounds, different environments. It's sorta like evolution then - a survival of the fittest. The more persuasive, the more commanding one rules the relationship...
Man, it's been so long since the last time I've been in a relationship, that I've forgotten about everything positive about it and remember the worst bits. I just want to be loved again.

Gawd, am I PMS-ing or what.

Britney Oh Britney

I just watched the opening of VMA on MTV with my roommate, and the opening act by Britney was disastrous. Not only did she don on a set of glittery bra and pantie set, exposing her chubs, she looked like she was suffering from indigestion when she was doing her moves. If you guys wanna check it out, here's the link:

http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?id=1568788&vid=173440

My housemate and I were like, if you wanna score a good performance, you have to at least fulfill one of the following- 1) you have to be hot, like devastatingly hot 2) you have to be a good dancer. She used to be both! Yet, tonight, we were like "wudn't it be better if she had worn a corset top, or something that will keep the chubs in?" and she was so distracted! Her previous performances had really sharp movements, and sooooo goood. Sigh. I guess it's a case of a falling star bound to crash.

Please God please let Yun finish his mouse perfusions soon enough before I die of glucose insufficiency in the brain. I can literally feel my brain cells dying, one by one of hunger. It's a cruel cruel world. T_T

Thank you Lord, for neighbors who don't last very long. Amen. Zzzzzzz.
The occupants of the apartment upstairs are having sex, and I can't sleep from the pounding. -__-

I lost three pounds!

*cheers* Woot! After slogging away for the past few weeks, jogging about 4-5 times a week, finally my efforts have paid off! THREE POUNDS! I will persevere, hopefully I can lose another 2 pounds, and I will be content as a corpse in his coffin. Heh heh.

One of Jenn's guy friends is heading down to San Diego this weekend. For some reason, he remembers me from 3 years ago, at this totally random event. According to Jenn, I was in her car on the way to party, and Jenn stopped over at this intersection to say hi to this guy, and well he remembers meeting me. I didn't even step outta the car! He just shouted "hi" and I shouted back. End of story. Anyways, all that is Jenn's version. I don't even remember such an incident. Anywhooo, in Jenn's words, he is "fixated on" me. So he's been bugging Jenn that she has to arrange a chance for him to meet me this weekend. Apparently, he asked what my type of guys is, to which Jenn replied brusquely "Oh, she's veeerrry picky, so don't be disappointed if she doesn't think much of you." Man, I love my BFF. She reads the words off my mind sometimes. So he's half white, half asian. Jenn is being a twerp for refusing to show me his picture. Oh well, we're all going to have dinner Friday night, woohoo. *sarcastic* I hope I don't gag. Heh.

Went shopping at Nordstrom with Renee yesterday. We both went to the Kiehl's counter to get stuff. I had to get conditioner cuz mine ran out, and she was just looking for a face masque. I shop like a guy. I usually pinpoint what it is exactly I want, do not engage in small talk with the sales assistant, and get my product in under 5 min, which is exactly what happened. Renee, on the other hand, shops like a TYPICAL girl. She pores over the small range of face products, lingers over some, starts up a 15 min convo with the enthusiastic sales assistant, who recommends her at least 5 products, to which she asked for samples for 4 of them. Turns out that she ran out of samples, and subsequently she volunteers to put some of the testers into small pad containers. Another 5 min of her patiently wiping the containers with alcohol wipe. Another 5 min of her labelling each container neatly. Which after I was thinking "let's just get the masque you wanted Renee, and get the hell outta here!". So Renee asked for the masque, which to their dismay, was out of stock! The representative told us to wait (another 10 min) while she checks the backstore. And lo and behold, there wasn't any there either. So the representative offered to put in a delivery for her to her doorstep, and Renee spent another 5 min putting down her address. Later, the representative informed her that a 5 bucks shipping fee will be imposed if the total spent was under 25 dollars. So Renee picks out another eyelash curler which I recommended. And for some reason, the gift voucher Renee wanted to use couldn't be used! 10 min of toying with the register, after which she gave up, and recommends that Renee just get the curler (cuz for some reason, the voucher could be used in that case). So as she was packing up the curler in a bag (Finally!), the representative had an epiphany- "Let's call the other Kiehl's stores in San Diego! Maybe they'll have some in stock!" and so began another 10 min of calling random stores. -__- At this point, I was 1) hungry 2) dying of boredom. In the end, she found that they have stock at blah blah blah location, and yes! we were finally free to go! Took a bloody hour to get the face masque. Wow.

Yea, nothing very much this weekend. Went partying with Trish, Mary Ann and the girls. Were they cam-hoing or what. Two of us had cameras, and I just looked at her myspace, and she has 180 pictures from that night. ...... Good lord. But anyway, like the wise saying "A picture paints a thousand words", I shall just upload some of the pictures from that night. A lot of candid shots. And the more we drink, the more candid and more blurred pictures there are. Heh.

Absinth*

So these days I've been reading a book in which the main character is a serial killer who drinks only absinth*. Apparently it's a hallucinogenic liquor that causes violent traits if consumed in excess. For that reason, it's banned in the states, though it's still popular in Europe. My friend Mike happened to get hold of some on his hands, and a bunch of us went over to taste it. To drink it, you have to first get a teaspoon of sugar, dip it in the absinth*, and set it on fire till it burns out, which after you stir the drink with the teaspoon and add a cube of ice. It was nasty. I can't really tell the difference between the taste of Jagermeister and absinth*, cuz they both taste like licorice, which I hate. So there. Not spectacular. And I didn't feel particularly like stabbing someone after it. Pretty disappointing. There's supposed to be three stages of intoxication. The 1st stage - you get stoned and just a general buzz. The 2nd stage- you develop vivid violent images, and everything not pretty. The 3rd stage - You see the prettiest things in the world, and develop into a state of pure bliss. I guess all of us got stuck in the first stage. Boringggg. What we did end up doing, was to start making water balloons, and catapulting them across the road to the other block of apartments where the lights were still on at 3 am in the morning. John aimed one at me when I wasn't looking, and my toes got wet. I wasn't terribly amused and proceeded to splash the contents of the glass I was holding at him. This erupted into like random people getting splashed on, and yea it was pretty funny. After that, we all went outside to try to catch the meteor shower which was supposed to show up at 430am, but we didn't see shit at all. :( Yea, a pretty random night. I got home at 7am. Pretty hung over right now. -__-
